Male and Female Ideal
As discussed in the article, the media shows that women need to look a certian way, and that this is the only way that someone will find you desirable. That if you fall into a particular body type, you will have a great life. Men need to be manly and they need to be a tough, gruff man. This is shown in movies where men always appear to be muscular. This is also shown in magazines that Lisa is looking at, including Mens Health. Masculine and feminine are also taught by our parents who show us the way that a boy and girl are supposed to be. Parents whether aware of it or not are teaching there children the way a child is supposed to act, soley based on their sex. I work at a health club, and it seems like kids are wearing adult clothing, just smaller, it is as if we are teaching our children to grow up and become young boys and girls as opposed to just kids. Looks seem to matter at a small age.

This is all so crazy. At point do we stop and think what we are teaching children. At what point do we see lasting effects this has on our culture and the future of our culture. As I stated before where does it all end? I am concered about your statements I am concered about the children also. I wonder if it is possible to reverse this or is it permanent?
I've noticed that kids are dressing alot more like adults lately. Even during Haloween kids are wearing inappropriate clothing. The media has influenced both teens and kids. Its very irresponsible of the media to push that sort of media on kids.
It is good that you point out the media and parents and other adults as influences on the young.I think that small kids should look clean and taken care of but not like mini adults. I think this is something that our society should change.
You make a great point about how the media, especially the movie industry go out of their way to cast these muscular men and beautiful women to play the leads in their films. Though it does make sense, seeing as how they wouldn't make a quarter as much in box office revenue if they cast an average person for the roles. About the "youth now wearing adult clothing only smaller" it is so sadly true, and it occurs to me that society is moving in a downward spiral towards where vice and sex appeal will reign supreme, even more than they do right now.
I could not believe the things I saw on those sites! Those little girls looked so creepy, all skinny and young but trying to be grown-ups! Not only do we have the "looks" that we have to live up to, but there are roles, too! Women need to know how to cook and sew and get a stain out of their husband's work shirt. Men should know how to barbecue steak, build a treehouse, and change their oil. I have a lot of looks to live up to, but my parents sure did fill those roles.
